Tim Carlson, Conductor. Tim has taught privately and worked as a band director for over 29 years at Grand Valley and Elmwood Local Schools. He has been involved with the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony since 2013 as a brass coach and currently is the Trumpet Coach for Group I. Tim performs regularly in Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania as part of the Warren Brass Quintet, the Hiram College Wind Ensemble, Ashtabula Area Orchestra (Principal Trumpet), and as a trumpet soloist. He was principal trumpet in the Ashtabula Brass Band from its inception in 2008 through the 2012 season, he has performed in pit bands (orchestras) for over 60 musical productions in local high schools (Lakeside, Harbor, Jefferson, Grand Valley, Cardinal Middlefield), colleges (Otterbein, Bowling Green) and local theater (Geauga Lyric, Willoughby Fine Arts, Ashtabula Arts Center). He has been the trumpet soloist for Geauga Hunger Taskforce’s presentation of Messiah. In 2016, Carson was appointed Musical Director of the Ashtabula Area Orchestra.
Tim is a proud graduate of Jefferson Area High School (1985) and has earned degrees from Otterbein College (1989), VanderCook College of Music (1993), and Kent State University (2001). He resides in Orwell, Ohio with his wife, Beth and daughters Erica and Emily. His oldest daughter Katherine lives in Richmond, Virginia.
